Mr. Fix-It and I LOVE to travel. Fitting trips and vacations into our lives is high on the priority list for both of us. If you've been following along for a while you know that we visited many beautiful places in 2011.
Each of those trips were wonderful and amazing in their own way, but I have to admit that I've been hopelessly craving some lazy time by the beach. There is something about napping on a lounge chair, swimming in the ocean, and finishing a book in a few short days that is unbelievably satisfying.
When Mr. Fix-It asked me how I wanted to celebrate my 30th birthday, my answer has been the same for months: I want to lay on a beach for a few days. And guess what? As of this week, IT'S HAPPENING!
I AM SO EXCITED! This year has already been a complete whilrwind of activity, and I swear I'm literally jumping out of my skin to completely unwind, breathe in some salty sea air, and feel the sun on my skin. (GAH! Can't wait!!!) A few days in Mexico have never sounded better.

Well, Monday has clearly come and gone, but why not play catch up today?
1. I've been able to shoot a few more photography sessions lately and I couldn't be more excited. Here's a little peek!
2. Sometime in January Mr. Fix-It and I realized that we have a surprisingly clear calendar for 2012. It's the strangest feeling. Since we met, there's always been SOMETHING significant on the docket. Weddings certain weekends, big trips, graduations, our wedding. Right now, we're wide open. You know, for the most part.
3. Mr. Fix-It LOVES St. Patrick's Day. It was a big thing at his college, and I think he remembers it (well, as much as one can remember a drinking celebration) as an especially fun time. I, on the other hand, HATE St. Patrick's Day. Well, I actually hate day-drinking. And St. Patrick's Day is the mecca of the day-drink. It makes me feel disgusting and gross, and somehow during day-drink events I always wind up covered in beer.
True story: a few years ago I was using a Porta-Potty (as if that isn't gross enough) at the Chicago St. Patrick's Day parade and someone poured a beer on me through the slats. It was a guy pranking his buddy. He figured it out pretty quickly when he heard a girly voice screaming expletives. He apologized, but OMG. IDIOTS. GAH. Oh, and it was cold. So I was cold and wet and reeking of beer all day.
I should also add: I HATE BEER. So, I'm basically the worst day-drinker you've ever met. Maybe a margarita day on Cinco-de-Mayo would be a better fit for me.
4. Super exciting news: Mr. Fix-It got a new job! We're both really optimistic about this move for him!
5. I FINALLY got approved to take my professional licensing exam. I have never been more excited to study and take a test. Let's get it done!
What's new with you?

Don't be fooled, my smiles only hide my misery.

As per my 30 before 30 list, and several other mentions on this blog, I've been wanting to repaint our Master Bedroom for some time. At first, I was a big fan of our rich, aubergine accent wall, but then I was just kind of over it. Mr. Fix-It thought I was crazy to want to "re-do" a room already, but really, we're coming up on 3 years in our condo. It was time for a change.
