Last year, we decorated our condo for Christmas for the first time. The year before, we opted to skip decorating for some reason. Probably because we were celebrating with our respective families, and figured with all the travel it wasn't worthwhile. But something was missing.
Now that we're on to year two, we've begun to develop our own traditions, have decorations that hold meaning, and stretch out the season as long as possible. Yes, we began playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving.
Mr. Fix-Its Mom collected beautiful Christmas Village pieces over the years. Mr. Fix-It told his Dad that he would like a few for our home - and last weekend we picked out village pieces.
Mr. Fix-It spent over an hour assembling our village. I think it connected him to his childhood.
So, the tree is trimmed, stockings are ready to be hung, and our home feels like Christmas.
Also, if you want to read a short series of posts about holidays and memories, click here. I briefly participated in a writing challenge last December, but I emotionally burnt myself out too early. If you enjoy writing or blogging, another writing challenge has launched this year. Perhaps I'll do a few this year too.
