After Mr. Fix-Its Mom passed away last year, we helped his Dad clean and organize the house. While we were sorting through the guest room, I found a box of ornaments under the bed. I looked through the box and realized it was a DIY Ornament Wreath just waiting to be completed! Mr. Fix-Its Dad insisted that he'd never do anything with it, and encouraged us to take it home.


Mr. Fix-Its Mom was remarkably crafty and creative, and had probably thoughtfully collected the ornaments for this project for quite some time.

     Here's what was included in the box:

• Assorted ornaments (lots!)
• Styrofoam wreath
• Wreath over-the-door-hanger
• You'll also need: a hot glue gun

I never got around to putting the wreath together last year. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why - I think it seemed a little overwhelming. Yesterday, I decided to dig in!

First, I emptied the box of ornaments and laid them around the wreath. There were several repeating ones, so I made sure to spread them evenly.


At this point Mr. Fix-It was asking me, "Isn't this stressing you out?! No, seriously". He said he had to go into the office because the project was too chaotic or something. I felt the opposite - I love things that are more creative. Bonus points for no measuring!

Next, I started gluing. (Our hot glue gun was officially dead, so I made a trip to JoAnn Fabric & Crafts earlier in the day). Mr. Fix-It offered the tip of not only gluing the ornaments to the styrofoam wreath, but also to each other. It helped!



Once I had covered the entire front surface, I decided to hang the wreath on the door to check my progress.


Funny enough, I thought I was just about done at this point. However, the sides were still pretty bare. I turned the wreath on it's face and filled in the outer area.


And, it was time to test it again!
