The Fix-Its Bakery

Over a month ago I blogged about a Camping Theme Baby Shower we're throwing for my childhood best friend. I'm just tying up the loose ends here in Chicago before I head to Providence tonight! On the to do list? COOKIES.

Three varieties to be exact. And over 75 baked cookies total! Last night was quite the scene in our kitchen.

What did I make? Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Oatmeal Raisin. I saw the Oreo Stuffed cookies on Pinterest a while back and made them for fun a couple of months ago. Dear lord, they're ridiculous.

The best part of serving these cookies is not telling people that there's an oreo inside. Their reactions are pretty hilarious. For the other two cookies, I used more traditional Peanut Butter Cookie and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipes.

Why all the cookies, you ask? They're going to be the party favors! Check out our campy mock-up:

The big trick is getting them safely to Providence. Here's my plan:

Have you ever traveled with baked goods before? Wish me luck!

  3. I loved your shower inspiration, and edible favors are the best. Your friend is going to love it! I think the way you are packing them looks like a good idea, but maybe mark the bag as fragile so it doesn't get tossed around too bad?

  4. @ The Nest Chapter: Oh, yes! No worries - I'm hand carrying the bag of cookies. They'd be guaranteed crumbs otherwise.

  10. Wow! I hope they make it in your travels! My mom has mailed cookies before in a padded envelope and sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't -- your method seems superior!
