Would if you Could? The Chinese Birth Chart

If you could choose your baby's sex, would you?

I believe, that in a moment of honesty, parents have a slight preference. After having one child, a lot of parents hope for the opposite. Or, after seeing you brother wrestle his difficult son to the ground in a moment of tantrum you envision a girl being easier. You have a close bond with a parent, and want the same for yourself. We all have our reasons.

About a year ago I came across the Chinese Birth Chart. I tend not to put much stock in things like this, but I've heard people swear by it. They plan their familes around it.

Last week, one of my best friends went to her Ob/Gyn to find out the sex of her baby. All along, I was convinced she was having a girl. Then, the morning of her appointment (while in the shower) I remembered the Chinese Birth Chart. Still dripping wet, I googled the birth chart and saw that she was predicted to have a boy. I texted her immediately and said that I doubted my original guess.

Guess what? I'm now going to be an "auntie" to a little boy. It was right!

Funny coincidence? Or does this thing actually work? Did the Chinese Birth Chart work for you? I'm curious!

  1. All of the predictions are fun, but let's face it, you get what you get.

  4. I quickly went through this for everyone in my small extended family (parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles/aunts, first cousin), and it was accurate for everyone except the first cousin. On the whole, it probably is pretty accurate since they tracked these things over long periods of time. There are most likely patterns due to temperature of sperm in certain months, amount of hormones at certain ages, etc.

  5. It works for me! The funny thing is that I'm not sure if I was 28 or 29 when we conceived (could have been my birthday or the day before), but both equal boy!

  6. OOoh I hope it's right! I want a little girl so bad!! It's funny though...are all these charts the same? I could have sworn another one told me I would be having a boy.

  8. Funny! It was wrong for me (as in, my own gender) though.

  9. It worked for my sister and most everyone I know! It's pretty fun to guess / see what months you would have a boy or girl.

  10. So...was looking at this again and decided to check the accuracy with my siblings....and well all 5 of them were right! Mine was off though, but it could be right since my mom says the gestation timeline could've been off...I had a EDD of 12/1 but was early on 9/24 (if I went by the 12/1 it would have meant I was conceived March 10th, but I'm thinking since mom said it was likely off maybe she conceived in February) Just a bit of food for thought..

  11. Whoops- completely wrong for my first baby (chart says boy, and we had a girl) and wrong for second baby (chart says girl, and we had a boy). Wondering if it's accurate for this third one (boy), or will it be reversed again (girl)?? We shall see in a few weeks!
